1. Open sources side by side
Open a Workspace and name it after your research topic. Add panes for sources, or start with the web search above the workspace using Google, Bing or your chosen provider. Keep a notes pane for the questions you want to compare.
Direct website panes and content capture use the desktop Chrome extension. A new host may need your permission. The app reports website restrictions involving sign-in, files or embedding; access is not identical on every site.
2. Collect evidence with its source
Select text, an image or a link in a connected site and move it to the basket. Both the drop area and writing area accept material; adding through the context menu is another option. Open the saved item to check its source address and captured content. Name the basket after the topic and note why the source matters.
For research into AI filmmaking, save a paper’s argument, a visual example from a film and an institution’s statement as separate items. Finding an image does not grant reuse rights; check the source’s terms before using quotations or visuals.
3. Write the question and review the handoff
Add a request such as “Compare these sources and identify conflicting claims” in the basket’s writing area. Review the included items and links in the preview. Remove an irrelevant item or edit your note before handing the selected material to your own AI tool.
Adding something to a basket does not itself send it to AI. Check the response against the original source. Develop your conclusions in the notes pane and connect separate lines of research through Work Map.
Before you start
Can I research without an account?
You can use a personal Workspace without signing in; guest work stays in that browser. Back it up before clearing browser data. Account sync is optional; shared Work Hub sessions require sign-in.
Is a personal basket the same as a shared basket?
The collection workflow is similar, but access differs. Local images in personal baskets stay on your device. Images shared in Work Hub are stored privately by the service so authorized members can access them. Review private material before adding it to a shared room.
