THE QUICK GUIDE

Workspace guide
Collect, organise, collaborate.

Use websites side by side, collect sources in a basket and organise them with Work Map. Open Work Hub to collaborate. Direct website and content capture tools use the desktop Chrome extension.

01 / START

Try it without an account.

  1. Add a few favourites

Open my space → All sites. Use a site's + button to add it to the right category. Use Add a site for your own address.

  2. Open a workspace example

An example is added as a new space alongside your existing ones. Drag headers to move panes and corners to resize them. Panes may overlap; use Focus to concentrate on one.

  3. Give your layout a name

Use Save in the Workspace toolbar to name a layout. Open saved layouts and choose a default from the arrow beside Workspace. Session save keeps a checkpoint for this tab; permanent Save is separate. Notes and to-dos save automatically.

02 / WORKSPACE

One screen. Different ways to open content.

Without an extension

Notes and to-dos work directly. Supported apps and provider-approved content can open in panes. YouTube needs a video or playlist link; Spotify needs a specific content link. Not every website's homepage can be embedded.

Direct website pane

The Chrome extension opens websites directly inside Workspace panes, keeping navigation, selection and basket tools together. When a new site needs permission, its approval interface appears in that pane. Browser or website restrictions are reported explicitly.

In a separate tab

Use Open in a separate tab for unsupported content. The … menu in local panes includes file, sign-in and permission actions, with a return path through the same source tab when needed.

Each pane has zoom, fit and aspect ratio controls. Resize the pane and scale its contents independently.

Wikipedia reader keeps your last article and reading position without an extension. Extension-connected sites resume from their last eligible HTTPS address. Other embedded players and documents keep their launch link; internal navigation depends on the provider’s API.

Web search above your Workspace searches online with Google, Bing or your chosen provider. Work map in the sidebar has three scopes: Saved items searches notes, tasks, links and Capsules; Open windows finds windows in this Workspace; Commands runs app actions. These three searches never send your query to the web.

04 / LOCAL WORKSPACE · 0.2.103

Your browser, directly in your pane.

A manually installed local extension prototype for desktop Chrome. Supported websites open directly inside Workspace with selection, navigation and basket tools in the same pane. Sites using the video connection open a source tab in the background. Chrome may require one extension invocation on some sources before live video can begin.

For video connections, once the source page’s first image is ready, 1080p video is attempted automatically using the same action as the pane’s quality selector. Image encoding stops when video actually presents a frame. Temporary failures receive bounded retries while the view and source session remain open. Chrome’s native capture-grant boundary still applies. 2K and 4K apply to the same stream only when selected.

The extension is available for desktop Chrome. Setup options are shown for your device.

Sites outside the catalogue are also opened through the direct iframe path. On first use, permission is requested only for that host; review the destination in the same pane before confirming Chrome’s permission prompt. No separate tab is opened. If permission is denied or the site blocks embedding, the pane reports that state instead of automatically switching to image or video transport. Permission for one host does not cover another host.

Security update: use 0.2.103. Updating the website does not update a manually installed extension. Update the same folder without removing the extension, reload it in Chrome, then refresh App of Everything. Source imports pause if an older extension lacks the required account-security support; saved items are not deleted.

  1. Download and extract the ZIP. The folder must contain manifest.json.
  2. Open chrome://extensions (Edge: edge://extensions). Developer mode → Load unpacked → select the extracted folder. Review Chrome’s debugging and tab capture permissions.
  3. Reload App of Everything. In Workspace → Add a pane, choose a site from Favourites or All apps. Filter sites by category or name; there is no separate opening-method choice. Workspace search also connects its results automatically.
  4. Click the view to type and browse. Normal HTTPS links navigate in the same pane; use the back/forward arrows to move between pages. Disconnect stops live control.

For an existing installation, replace the files in the same folder with 0.2.103 and reload the extension after finishing active connections. Source tabs, signed-in sessions and saved layouts remain; an extension reload can disconnect live panes once. The extension icon and ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Y remain available to save links to Saved sources.

Source tabs must remain open. Connections still referenced by a space/layout are kept. With 0.2.20, visible panes with a last address reconnect after a reload and reuse their exact source if it remains open in the same browser session. After a full browser restart, the saved address opens; unsent forms and page memory cannot be restored. Chrome’s debugging notice stays visible. Some sign-ins, permissions and native file dialogs require the source tab; open it from the … menu and return to the same pane using the extension icon. Source audio plays normally on your device without a separate audio relay. Live video targets up to 60 frames/second; the actual rate depends on your device and the source website. Fallback image frames use a different method and do not guarantee a fixed rate.

Live images and keyboard/mouse input are processed on your computer, without a server relay or workspace sync. Layouts, saved addresses and built-in notes follow your storage preferences. The extension does not automatically connect unrelated open tabs.

TOOLS / 0.2.103

More tools, behind one …

Open … → Pane actions at the top of a connected local pane. Find, copy, text entry, sound and picture options live here, keeping your space clear. When controlling the picture, Escape goes to the website; Ctrl/⌘+Shift+Space returns to Workspace controls.

Only when you choose Continue with video does the connected pane try Video · 1080p. A direct iframe never switches to this mode automatically. Choose 2K or 4K in the top bar. Images keep the view usable until video presents its first frame, then image encoding stops. Brief playback interruptions retain the same video stream. Real failures receive bounded retries on the same source; if Chrome continues denying a source grant, image transport remains usable. The source tab and sign-in session stay open. The 60fps target differs from the measured rate; no fixed rate is guaranteed.

Each pane has one video stream. Separate 2K and 4K streams do not load in the background; selecting a quality changes the resolution ceiling of that same stream. Video stays visible while resizing; no last-frame cover or transition input lock is used. This does not change the source page viewport or session. Actual resolution depends on the source and device; higher quality may increase load. With 0.2.20, source link, text-entry and drag cursors also appear in the pane. Custom cursor images and some child frames are unsupported.

Hold content in a direct website pane for 0.1 seconds to prepare it for collection. Move the pointer and drag it to Drop here or the question box. Releasing without moving preserves an ordinary click. Your Workspace stays open; the compact basket includes previews, selection, deletion and AI transfer. Hold to grab requires extension 0.2.103. Text and links keep their type; graphic and video areas become visible screenshots. Your question stays unchanged. Native dragging remains available.

Transfer, input and compatibility details
  • Paste & drop. Paste or drop text, basic formatting, images or files you choose into a pane. Each transfer allows up to 8 files, 8 MiB per file and 12 MiB in total. Formatting is reduced to a safe subset. Websites may reject this transfer; a “delivered” result does not prove a message was sent or an upload finished. If rejected, use Go to source tab to continue the same action there.
  • Files & native dialogs. Standard file inputs can offer selection inside Workspace. For folders, local filesystem access or special pickers, use Native file dialog and click the source button again. Selected files are assigned to the website, which may upload them immediately as it normally would. Complete sign-in, printing and microphone/camera approval yourself in the source. The extension icon or Ctrl/⌘+Shift+Y returns to the same pane without closing its session. Sign-in rules are respected and permissions are never approved automatically.
  • IME & text entry. Click a text field in the website first. In IME / text entry, use the real text area, finish Chinese/Japanese candidate selection, dead keys or device dictation, then press Insert text. It inserts the composed text together; it does not reproduce inline candidate windows or every shortcut inside the source editor.
  • Copy, find & right-click. Copy selection can preserve basic formatting. Cut operates only on supported plain-text fields, after a successful clipboard write and while the same selection still exists; complex editors use the source. Find in page searches the main document, excluding child frames. Right-click offers a compact menu for links, image addresses and selection; use the source for the full native menu and printing.
  • Audio & motion. Mute changes only this source tab’s sound on your device. Motion view uses smaller, more frequent local pictures instead of the sharp-text profile; device load may increase, with no fixed FPS or protected-media guarantee. Calls, voice messages and camera features depend on the website and Chrome permissions.
  • Accessible view. Shows a bounded set of semantic text and controls from the main document and can focus supported source elements. It is not the page’s complete accessibility tree or full screen-reader support. Use the source website for full access. The current inner address of an extension-free embed remains unavailable unless its provider exposes it.

These tools run on your device, without an App of Everything relay server for files, clipboard or media. Normal website hosting, optional dashboard sync and the source website’s own internet use still apply.

SAVED SOURCES / WORKFLOWS

Collect it here. Pick up where you left off.

Saved sources

Sidebar → Saved sources → Add item: keep a URL, text you paste, your note and tags. Video, social and PDF links are classified automatically. Search by text or tag, filter source or type, archive, assign a space and add to favourites or Workspace. Full pages are not downloaded automatically. This also works on phones.

On desktop Chrome/Edge, choose Saved sources → Save here in one click → Choose this destination. After this one-time choice, invoke the extension icon or ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Y on another HTTPS page: its URL and title are saved, you return here and the item imports automatically into this destination. A source tab waiting for a Workspace connection takes priority. Without a default destination, Save & return still offers a text/note form and manual import.

The extension copy remains until browser storage confirms the save; retrying does not duplicate an item. Turn the default off here or use Clear default in the extension. Switching accounts does not automatically send items into the other account. Signed-in destinations follow existing dashboard sync; guest saves stay in this browser.

Workflows

Sidebar → Save centre → Restart with the same sources · Workflows → Create workflow. Choose a name, space, optional saved layout and up to 12 websites. Launch opens the layout; the extension opens the chosen sites and reuses tabs the same workflow opened that remain open. Other tabs are not closed. Without the extension, the layout opens and you can use the individual links. Live tab connection, sign-in and screen-sharing permissions are not approved automatically.

Continue after reopening your browser

  1. While on App of Everything, open the extension icon and enable Resume my last workflow on startup.
  2. The browser asks for optional tab access. It lets the extension match open tab URLs and titles on your device; browsing history is not scanned. One-click saving works without it.
  3. Launch your workflow once. After reopening the browser, the last workflow resumes when the same account is ready. Your latest pane layout is kept; existing source tabs are reused and missing ones reopen at their last known HTTPS address. Tabs you deliberately closed do not reopen automatically.

This does not save a page's internal state or unsent forms. The browser profile manages session cookies, and a website may ask you to sign in again. Live panes and desktop sharing need to be reconnected. Turning this option off in the extension clears local resume addresses and removes optional tab access.

Saved sources and workflows are included in dashboard sync and JSON backups. Pending extension items are separate in your browser profile and do not automatically import when you switch accounts.

WORK HUB

Create a shared workspace to work together

Sign in, open Work Hub from the sidebar and create a shared workspace. Before sharing an invitation link, choose viewer or editor access and a per-person pane allowance. The owner can change these for individual members later; your personal Workspace stays separate.

  • Edit together: shared notes, tasks, sources, baskets and Work Map records sync. Participants work in their own panes; the owner can manage all panes. Once a pane is shared for editing, use its menu to take exclusive editing access and release it when finished. Editing access is separate from viewing a tab.
  • Use your tab and follow along: on your first visit as an editor, an empty named tab is prepared if your allowance permits. Visible text, images and links from supported websites appear in the same pane for other members. No screen or video sharing is started. The website owner needs Chrome extension 0.2.103. When the owner enables collection in the tab header, members can drag text and product links into the shared basket. A member who claims editing access can follow supported links and scroll. Forms, canvas applications, video and nested iframe content are not relayed in this version.
  • Microphone permission is requested when you choose Join audio. Voice supports up to four participants and shared browsing up to eight connected members, without reducing room membership. Connections run directly between devices. Some networks may require a relay; paid transfer is never enabled automatically. A connection problem does not prevent work on shared notes and baskets.
  • When disconnected: previously loaded notes, tasks and material can be edited on the device; live websites need internet. If the same record changes in two places, versions are kept for review. Changed permissions stop an old draft from uploading automatically. Check sync status after reconnecting; a recovery file is available from shared workspace settings.

LIBRARY

Keep your work together.

Open Save centre → Content copies · Capsules & Library in the sidebar. Create a Capsule to save a copy of your current layout, favourites and optional notes. Review → Open in a new space opens the package alongside your existing work. Download a file or sign in to create a share link. Review included content first: anyone with the link can view this copy. Revoke the link under Your shared copies.

Templates create a new starting space. Personal search looks through your saved content only. Team spaces are separate shared copies for authorized members; use Refresh for the latest version. Automation tags or archives new captures while the app is open. A daily Capsule rule runs at most once a day when you open the app. Mini apps add notes, tasks, a unit price calculator and a weekly hours calculator to Workspace. Import a JSON manifest to create your own small formula tool; inputs save with your layout.

Contextual AI gives up to six records you select to an on-device model. It requires supported desktop Chrome and compatible hardware; first use may download the model. This version uses English input and output. On unsupported browsers, copy the selected context into your own AI account. Live Drive / Calendar OAuth integrations are not enabled; Markdown and bookmark transfers use files.

WORK MAP

See how your work connects

Choose Work Map in the sidebar or press ⌘ / Ctrl + K. The fullscreen map brings together your Workspaces, favourites, notes, task lists, Inbox items, workflows, saved layouts and local Capsule copies. Search also reaches collapsed branches and connection names. Web search above Workspace searches the internet; this map searches your own saved items.

  • Explore: drag the background; zoom with + / − or ⌘ / Ctrl + scroll. Opening details does not refit the map. Use Fit to see everything. List view provides keyboard access to the same records.
  • Visual groups: select several items and give their group a name; collapse it to reduce clutter. Groups and map positions do not change which Workspace stores the content. Locked items cannot be dragged accidentally.
  • Connections: choose two items or drag from a connection port. Pick a source, task, support or general relationship and give it a name. Dashed lines show location; violet lines show actual source copies. Your own relationships do not move or automatically sync content.
  • Show the connection: inspect a path of saved relationships between two items. Including location edges is a separate option. If no path exists, the map does not assume a relationship.
  • Move stored items: choose Move for your selection, pick a destination Workspace and a favourite category when needed, then review before confirming. Current notes, task lists and supported records can move. Live browser windows and saved layout copies stay in place. A bulk move that cannot complete does not partially move items. Undo reverses the last action without overwriting newer work.
  • Map views: name and save your filters, expanded branches, collapsed groups and camera position. A map view does not change window placement; Workspace layouts and Capsules remain separate record types. Use unassigned records, unfinished tasks and unlinked items filters to organise your work.
  • The map is drawn on your device without a separate graph or AI server. Positions, relationships, groups and named views use the existing save system and sync when account sync is enabled. Your last viewpoint is kept separately for your account in this browser. As a guest, export a JSON backup before clearing browser data.
  • Organise Workspaces: select one to create a child, move it under another heading, or copy and paste it under a chosen heading. Hover a rope and choose + to create a Workspace at that point, organised under the heading and connected to the Workspace on the rope. If the operation cannot complete, existing records are kept.
  • Work with sources: select a Workspace and open Use with ChatGPT. Choose summarise, write, compare, get inspired or find similar sources from one compact menu, then freely edit the request. Include connected Workspaces also adds child Workspaces and the contextual connection chain. Review the Workspace and source list first. Open in ChatGPT and transfer prepares a draft in a dedicated ChatGPT tab in this Workspace without creating a basket; you send the message yourself. Saved text and links are included; live page content, files and images are not part of this transfer.
YOUR CORNER

Save, leave context, explore together.

Use Add in the sidebar to save a link, note or task for quick capture. Use Add → Leave next step to write a reminder. Pick up where you left off appears when this Workspace has a reminder or open task; complete an open task or jump to its pane. Recent spaces stay on this device. Categories follow the active Workspace in Your favourites. Backup, Save & sync and the saving guide live under Help & settings.

In Circles, choose a nickname, create a small space for a shared topic and share an invite link with people you trust. Contributors can post a source, note or question, reply and say thanks. Viewers can read and save for themselves. Save for me adds a copy only to your Saved sources. Refresh to get new posts. Invites expire after 72 hours; creating a new invite revokes the old link. Find member and role management in the advanced section. Open tabs and personal notes are never shared automatically.

YOUR AI

Collect, ask, transfer together.

Open My basket in the sidebar. Each basket has a name, Workspace and creation date. Choose a collection basket, then keep working at your desk.

  1. Select text in a note or extension pane and right-click: Add selected text to basket. The context menu can also collect the page link and pane screenshot. Add to basket in Notes and Saved sources uses the same basket.
  2. Add notes, sources, open panes or images on My basket. Reorder items, remove them or uncheck them for a transfer. Excerpts and notes are snapshots from collection time; editing the original does not change them.
  3. Write your question or desired result below the basket. With a connected ChatGPT pane, Transfer basket to AI inserts text and images into that chat draft together. Review and send yourself. For other AI services, copy the request and attach images separately.
  4. Select the useful passage in ChatGPT and save it as a note or tasks. Workspace links and sharing controls are available below the basket. Shared copies are not continuous live access; AI must reread the link when needed.

Keep up to 40 baskets, 32 items and 12 images per basket. Each image can be 8 MB, with a 48 MB image total per basket. Transfers exceeding 24,000 characters are blocked without truncation; uncheck some items. A saved link is not the entire page content. Some normal iframes do not expose selected text; use an extension pane or paste text instead.

In a personal Workspace, basket text saves with your dashboard, syncs when signed in and is included in JSON backups. Images in that personal basket stay in account-scoped IndexedDB on this browser; they are not uploaded to our server or included in JSON backups. Missing images on another device are clearly marked and never silently skipped during transfer. Clearing site data removes local images. Transfers add no AI API cost; your own AI account limits apply.

Images added to a shared Work Hub basket are stored privately by the service so authorised members can access them. Data storage and sharing details.

WORKSPACE / KITS

Pick a task. Your desk is ready.

Choose the workspace library button beside Workspace → App kits. Pick 2–4 apps for presenting, streaming and gaming, research, work, design, market watch, comparison or development. Search by app name or filter by pane count. A kit opens a new space, keeping your existing spaces, favourites and sessions. Move and resize panes, add your own apps and save your version.

Kits arrange web apps that use your own accounts; they do not include subscriptions or meeting access. Camera, microphone and screen sharing may require the source tab or browser permission. Files in PDF & files stay on your device and must be reselected after a page reload. Window mirroring is view-only.

LOCAL / NO INSTALLATION

From your computer to your desk.

Desktop mirroring

Go to Workspace → Add a pane → Apps → Desktop mirroring. Use Choose a window to mirror and select your open PDF viewer, Excel or another application window. Changes in that window appear live in the pane. There are no player controls or recording; audio is not captured and the mirror is not uploaded to our server.

This option is not interactive in the web version: you cannot click, type or edit the application’s document from the pane. Those actions take place in the source application. Use Change window or Stop mirroring to manage the mirror. In the same page, the live preview is retained while a saved layout still references the pane. After a page reload, browser restart or computer shutdown, select the window again; capture permissions cannot be saved permanently.

Window selection works in supported desktop browsers with system screen-sharing permission. Phones show favourites, notes and file previews rather than this desktop flow.

Local files

Add a pane → Apps → Local files lets you select up to 50 files. Preview PDFs (up to 100 MB) in your browser’s built-in reader, plus images (up to 25 MB) and small text files (up to 256 KB), read only. PDF reader support depends on your browser; use the separate-tab link when unavailable. File contents, names and permissions do not sync to the cloud. The pane name, scale and placement save; choose files again after reopening the page. This panel does not edit Excel, Word or Photoshop files.

Browser screen sharing and permissions ↗
DESKTOP / COMING SOON

Beyond mirroring.

Desktop mirroring in the web version provides a live view only. We are planning interactive local application panes for our desktop app, so you can click, type and edit in a PDF viewer, Excel or another local application from Workspace. Processing will take place on your computer, without uploading the file to our website.

Desktop app · Download coming soon

The desktop app has not been released; there is no .exe or Mac installer available yet. Installation and compatibility details will appear here when it is ready. Supported applications and editing capabilities will be determined through testing.

The current Chrome extension controls browser tabs, not native desktop applications. Installing the website on your home screen does not enable local application control either. For now, use desktop mirroring and edit in the source application.

PRO / FREE PREVIEW

Capture your desk. Draw on it.

Pro screenshot and drawing tools are temporarily open for a free preview; no payment is taken. Use Pro tools · FREE PREVIEW in your dashboard to open Workspace. In Chrome with Local Workspace extension 0.1.5 or later, Screenshot downloads only your Workspace as a PNG in one click. Panes and drawings are included; the menu, sidebar and Dock are excluded. There is no repeated sharing picker. Chrome may briefly show a debugging notification. Without the extension, use the separate Capture tab · with browser permission option and choose the App of Everything tab. Draw on screen lets you choose colours and pen width, undo strokes and keep drawings with your layout. Use Finish drawing or Escape to interact with your sites again. Screenshots require a supported desktop browser. Pro is not on sale and no payment is taken.

05 / ON YOUR PHONE

Save it. Note it. Pick it up later.

Use Save a link on your mobile space to add an address. Use Quick note to capture a thought; it is saved in the same space's Workspace. Favourite websites open in separate tabs on mobile. Desktop local panes also offer a separate-tab option.

To continue across devices, sign in with the same Google or email account on your phone and computer. Guest data stays in its browser; open source tabs and website sign-in sessions do not transfer between devices.

06 / SAVING

Where is your space saved?

  • Without an account: in this browser. Clearing browser data can remove your saved space.
  • With Google or a verified email account: spaces, links, layouts, built-in notes and to-dos sync with the same account.
  • Import & backup: download a JSON backup or import browser bookmarks.

Open your space when your browser starts

In Chrome, go to Settings → On startup → Open a specific page or set of pages and add the address below. In Safari on Mac, use Settings → General → Homepage. A startup page and a new tab page are different settings.

https://www.appofeverything.com/app?lang=en

Recover a guest board from the old address — For local records remaining on the address without www. Transfer requires your choice; sign-in sessions are not copied.

07 / HELP

If something does not work…

A pane is blank

The website may block embedding or require content access. Use Open in a separate tab. For videos and documents, use a content link rather than the homepage.

The extension was not found

Use desktop Chrome. Check that the extension is enabled in the same Chrome profile. Reload the extension from its card, then reload the website.

My space is missing on another device

Check that both devices use the same account and the save status says Synced. Verify your email if you signed up with email. Guest spaces do not automatically move to another device.

For a better workspace

We do not watch or record your screen.

May we measure which App of Everything tools are used, active usage time and approximate country? Messages, notes, search text, files and drawings are excluded from this measurement.

No account is required. All features work if you decline. Change your choice in Help & settings.

Scope details and turning it off

Only fixed app identifiers and counts are sent. No page URLs, personal names, Workspace names, messages, notes, files or screens are sent. They are not joined to account, visitor or session identifiers.

Turning this off stops future collection and discards unsent counts. Individual contributions cannot be removed from past totals that are not linked to a person. The administrator sees only apps and pairs with at least 10 observations over the last 30 days; these are not people counts.

Separately, we keep daily page/country totals only, without a person or session record. You can turn this count off below too.
